Anxiety is related to the future, and the future only. We cannot be anxious about what has already happened, nor can we be anxious about what is happening. The only thing we can be anxious about is the future. A place that doesn’t even exist. The future is a concept created in the human mind. Humans are extremely good at seeing patterns, and with those patterns we can to some degree calculate a possible consequence of an action. When we’re anxious, it means fear is a part of the calculation. When this happens our calculations will equal a worst case scenario. In other words, when we’re anxious, we create a worst case future for our selves and we’re continuously waiting for it to become present. Not a very nice way to spend our precious time.
